The weeding claw is a traditional tool that is especially useful when you need to get to the bottom of stubborn weeds such as ground elder.
The pointed tines allow the tool to move effortlessly through the soil, making it permeable and airy.
If the ground elder is well established, the weeding claw is used to lift the uppermost roots, and then you will need a fork or similar tool to get deeper. It is a task that requires patience, and often you will need to repeat this several times throughout the season.
Later in the season, when the weeds have grown tall, I recommend cutting them down, as otherwise it is not possible to use the weeding claw.
I value quality and like to acquire things that can withstand years of use and wear. And that is certainly the case with the garden tools from the Dutch company DeWit. Here, we are truly talking about solid craftsmanship made from hardened boron steel, manufactured at the company in the small northern Dutch town of Kornhorn. All handles are made from Dutch ash wood.
