Ceramic grater for garlic, ginger, and much more
These fine ceramic graters are both beautiful and practical in the kitchen. The rough surface can be used to grate garlic, ginger, tomato, citrus zest, parmesan, and chocolate. Add a little good olive oil and fresh herbs directly in the bowl and serve a simple dip with bread. The graters are also great for olives, nuts, and other small snacks.
The hand-painted colors and patterns make the grater decorative on the kitchen counter and beautiful to place directly on the table with, for example, dip, dressing, or marinade. The combination of Spanish craftsmanship, function, and decorative details also makes it an obvious gift idea.
The graters are made by the family-owned ceramics producer Artesanía León in La Rambla, Andalusia, where the craft has been passed down through four generations since 1906. For centuries, the town has been known as one of Spain’s most important centers for ceramics, and here, knowledge of clay, shaping, glazing, and decoration has been handed down from generation to generation.
Each grater is shaped and decorated by hand, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Small variations in shape, glaze, color, and brushstrokes are a natural and beautiful part of the craftsmanship. After several firings at very high temperatures, the ceramics gain the strength that makes them suitable for everyday use.
